The company is currently seeking a motivated, experienced and collaborative leader in protein sciences and development, to be responsible for implementation and optimization of state-of-the-art antibody (protein) platforms, optimization of innovative lead candidates, and work both internally and externally with CMOs to produce engineered production cell lines and processes for manufacturing GMP material for IND filing. In addition, the successful candidate will:
Responsibilities:
- Lead pipeline candidates from lead selection through downstream development toward IND.
- Lead a protein sciences group focused on establishing protein purification, early characterization and detailed analytics needed for IND and beyond.
- Lead the design and execution of biochemical, immunological and cellular assays relevant to antibody/target specificity, as well as developability characterization methods.
- Establish and maintain methods qualification protocols.
- Manage relations with external CDMOs for all CMC activities including process transfers, problem resolution, time line management and budget.
- Author key sections of IND applications related to CMC.
- Interact and collaborate with leaders and teams across antibody discovery and molecular biology on project delivery and new technology development.
- Partner with Business Development to pursue new partnerships.
- Represent the scientific goals and interests at scientific conferences, partner meetings and other events.
- Establish a network of external partners from academia and industry to strengthen capabilities and capacity
- Develop and manage operating budget.
- Recruits and develops an antibody team, fosters a culture of innovation that cultivates teamwork and improves performance.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant scientific area, such as antibody or protein engineering, protein biochemistry or biotechnology, plus a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in biologics research and cGMP production.
- Working experience in downstream development to IND and Clinical development.
- Experience in antibody optimization, characterization and manufacturing for IND.
- Recognized leader in antibody/protein engineering and molecular biology as evidenced by publications, participation in international conferences, membership on journal editorial boards, etc.
- Excellent communicator and highly effective in interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to establish high-level strategies for new drug technologies and apply new technologies to drug discovery.
- Team player and builder, possess great coaching skills and has great organizational skills.
- High degree of integrity and professionalism.
- High functioning in an environment dedicated to exceptional quality and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and other programs necessary for the position.
- Experience with NGS and/or antibody display platforms preferred.
