Description
The company is currently seeking a motivated, experienced and collaborative leader in biologics discovery and development, to be responsible for implementation and optimization of state-of-the-art antibody (protein) platforms, design and generation of innovative lead candidates, propose and advance projects from initiation to lead identification and IND filing. In addition, the successful candidate will:
Responsibilities:
- Lead antibody discovery, engineering and molecular biology teams responsible for designing, generating and characterizing antibody-based therapeutics.
- Lead pipeline candidates from discovery to lead candidate selection and contribute to downstream development toward IND.
- Design and execute engineering campaigns, including complex multi-specific antibody campaigns.
- Lead technology development in antibody selection, engineering and molecular biology.
- Develop and employ complex molecular biology workflows to rapidly generate constructs from a variety of in silico and biological sources.
- Interact and collaborate with leaders and teams across antibody optimization and protein sciences on project delivery and new technology development.
- Partner with Business Development to pursue new partnerships.
- Represent the scientific goals and interests at scientific conferences, partner meetings and other events.
- Establish a network of external partners from academia and industry to strengthen capabilities and capacity
- Develop and manage operating budget.
- Recruits and develops an antibody team, fosters a culture of innovation that cultivates teamwork and improves performance.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant scientific area, such as antibody discovery or protein engineering, protein biochemistry or biotechnology, plus a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in biologics research.
- Working experience in diverse antibody discovery methods using animal immunization and/or in vitro methodologies including rapid work-flows for lead selection based on predetermined criteria.
- Working experience using molecular biological methods for creating novel therapeutics from individual antibody and other protein binding components.
- In-depth knowledge of downstream development to IND and Clinical development.
- Recognized leader in antibody/protein engineering and molecular biology as evidenced by publications, participation in international conferences, membership on journal editorial boards, etc.
- Excellent communicator and highly effective in interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to establish high-level strategies for new drug technologies and apply new technologies to drug discovery.
- Team player and builder, possess great coaching skills and has great organizational skills.
- High degree of integrity and professionalism.
- High functioning in an environment dedicated to exceptional quality and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and other programs necessary for the position.
- Experience with NGS and/or antibody display platforms preferred.
