Scismic is supporting the growth of a biotech startup that is pioneering mRNA-modulating therapies to cure a broad range of genetic diseases. This Boston-based company is exploring the use of its novel platforms in neurological disorders, heart disease, and muscular dystrophies.

We are seeking a highly skilled scientist with experience in molecular/cellular biology to join the team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular/cellular biology in different disease areas (CNS and Cardiology disease areas are preferred). The candidate should be able to design, execute and troubleshoot relevant molecular and cellular assays in a fast-paced set up. This position requires an innovative mindset, and the ability to be self-driven, multi-tasking and work collaboratively to support in vivo studies.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Design, troubleshoot, and execute assays (e.g., PCR, IHC, Western, MSD) in cell lines and rodent tissues to characterize efficacy and safety of the company therapeutic platforms (CNS and cardiovascular fields preferred).
- Collaborate with other teams across the organization to support data-driven decision-making.
- Communicate findings and results to a wide range of stakeholders in written and oral presentations, including senior management.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of post-graduate experience in research & development in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of molecular, cellular and biochemical techniques with rodent tissues, such as qPCR, ddPCR, Western Blot, MSD, IHC etc.
- Research background with CNS and/or cardiomyocyte is highly preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, and to provide strategic direction to the team.
- Scientifically rigorous, self-driven, highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
