They are seeking a Histology Coordinator to join the team!
JOB SUMMARY
- Duties associated with daily operation of the Histology Laboratory (assist w/ frozen, gross of small specimens, immunohistochemistry, etc.) including coverage of staffing shortages.
- Trains new employees and performs technical competency on all employees.
- Competent in cytology (GYN and non-GYN) preparation procedures on patient specimens submitted for the diagnoses of disease.
- Verifies billing for specimens sent out to a third party pathology source (i.e.: Neo-genomics).
- Assist supervisor with monthly quality management (QM) data for Pathology Lab and the hospital.
- Acts as the Key Operator on all equipment and Instrumentation and includes troubleshooting, replacement and validation.
- Assist supervisor with regulatory compliance and College of American Pathologist (CAP) inspection readiness as well as implementing new policies and procedures.
- Assist supervisor assigning CAP surveys & scan into Media Lab for approval.
- Performs high quality control (QC) and preventative maintenance according to established policy.
- Reviews and signs all electronic document control records as assigned.
- Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.
- Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
- Exhibits the company's Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
- Histotechnologist, Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), or an Associate of chemical or biological science required.
- Completion of a laboratory training program approved by the ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization approved by HHS required.
- National Board of Certification preferred. Board certified Histotechnologist (HTL) or completion of certification within 1 year.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience required if not certified.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of basic science skills, medical terminology, and technical proficiency in the histological techniques.
- Troubleshoot with all levels of personnel.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her unit.
