Frequently Asked Questions

Scismic aims to propel scientific innovation by helping scientists and engineers find jobs where they can use their strengths and do their best work. To do this, we provide these FREE resources for you:

  • Scismic Job Seeker, the talent-matching platform for the sciences.
  • Career events and webinars to educate you on your career options and best job search practices.
  • CV/resume review and career guidance

Scismic works directly with hiring managers to identify the skills and experience required for each job, then uses this information and our matching algorithm to determine if you would be a good fit for the role. When you are matched to a role, you can feel confident that you are qualified. Once you match, you can apply for the job through Scismic by uploading your tailored CV and answering the application questions. Because of our specialized matching system, your chances of receiving a phone screen when applying through Scismic are 5x higher than applying through job boards.

Once you apply to a job, your resume, profile, and answers to application questions go directly to the employer. Hiring managers often look at Scismic candidates first because of our matching process, so your application bypasses hundreds of others that are sent through job boards.

Should you be shortlisted for the job, the employer will contact you directly to guide you through the next steps.

Scismic is completely free to job seekers and paid for by employers. The companies we work with pay us for helping them identify quality candidates. We offer help with profile optimization, resume improvement, and monthly workshops and events to support job seekers, all for free!

Scismic uses the information provided in your profile to determine whether or not you are a good match to any of our job opportunities. The information in your profile is confidential, and only shared with the employer upon application.

In some cases, your information may be anonymized and shared with third parties in aggregate for research and analytics purposes.

The matching algorithm considers your education level, years of professional (non-student) experience, your research fields and technical skills, and visa requirements, to determine whether or not you are a good match for a role.

If you aren’t matching to any roles, feel free to reach out to [email protected] for help optimizing your profile.

We offer resume/CV reviews for free. To schedule your appointment, email [email protected] .
