POSITION SUMMARY

Scismic is supporting the growth of a non-profit award-winning technology incubator for early-stage biotech and cleantech companies located in Beverly, MA. They have incubated more than 85 companies that have secured > $1.2 billion in funding from grants, angel and venture capital sources and filed > 200 patent applications. The companies have created more than 600 jobs and have provided 275+ internships to students.

The company is seeking a Lab Operations Associate that will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the lab by independently executing routine lab maintenance, project management of small improvement projects, work order processing and invoice support, consumable ordering and stocking, equipment maintenance, and daily deliveries. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable of laboratory procedures and safety regulations to ensure efficient operations. The Lab Operations Associate should thrive in a creative environment that supports startup entrepreneurs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Oversee day to day lab operation and support start-up member companies.
  • Stock, and order all common inventory of lab consumables, reagents, and gases.
  • Receive, organize, and deliver all incoming shipments and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Responsible for supporting all shared equipment installation, monitoring, service, repair, calibration, maintenance and response.
  • Maintain asset management system and documentation.
  • Responsible for glass washing and autoclaving of labware.
  • Coordinate and set-up new laboratory spaces for new hires as well as new hire orientation.
  • Responsible for supporting the lab operations budget.
  • Enforce safety policies and best practices throughout the facility.
  • Work with IT personnel to ensure the lab’s IT capabilities are operational and optimal.
  • Perform daily lab maintenance and proactively maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab.
  • Complete additional operations and lab support duties as necessary
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies, and applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of direct lab experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and customer service-oriented skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience dealing with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to carry out work duties with minimum supervision.
