Scismic is supporting the growth of a biotech startup that is pioneering mRNA-modulating therapies to cure a broad range of genetic diseases. This Boston-based company is exploring the use of its novel platforms in neurological disorders, heart disease, and muscular dystrophies.
Position summary:
Position summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled scientist with experience in in vivo and molecular/cellular biology to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in in vivo and molecular/cellular biology of diseases (cardiovascular disease areas highly preferred), and design, execute and lead the in vivo studies in a fast-paced set up. This position requires an innovative mindset, and the ability to be self-driven, multi-tasking and work collaboratively to drive in vivo studies forward.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
• Drive (design, troubleshoot and execute) multiple in vivo studies: animal colony management, perform hands-on rodent in-life work (different routes of administration, surgeries, tissue collections, functional and behavior tests, etc.).
• Design, troubleshoot and execute molecular assays (e.g., PCR, IHC, Western, MSD) in cell lines and rodent tissues.
• Manage a team of Research Associates.
• Manage external CROs for in vivo studies and cell-based studies.
• Collaborate with other teams across the organization to support data-driven decision-making.
• Communicate findings and results to a wide range of stakeholders in written and oral presentations, including senior management.
Preferred qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in pharmacology, cardiology, molecular/cellular biology, or a related discipline with 2- 5 years of post-graduate experience in research & development in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
• Extensive hands-on in vivo experience: animal colony management, hands-on rodent work experience (different routes of administration, surgeries, tissue collections, functional and behavior tests, etc.).
• Experience with molecular and cellular techniques, hands-on experience with qPCR, ddPCR, Western Blot and immunocytochemistry and image analysis.
• Research background in cardiovascular therapeutic area is highly preferred.
• Experience managing junior team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, and to provide strategic direction to the team.
• Scientifically rigorous, self-driven, highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
