Senior RA/Scientist 1, Compound Management

Job description

Scismic is supporting the growth of a clinical stage biotech company in Boston, MA!

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and motivated person to provide help in maintaining the accuracy of the research compound inventory. You will be instrumental in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our company's compound management systems and the initial registration of onsite materials into the system. You will be responsible for fulfilling compound requests from internal research scientists in support of drug discovery efforts, performing quality control of samples, shipping compounds to outside partners, and ensuring a proper compound inventory storage environment. Additionally, you will help with routine formulation preparations in support of pharmacology experiments.
 

Your Role

  • You will implement and oversee the development of a compound management system using commercial inventory software (MOSAIC, etc).
  • Receive and process all compound samples from internal and external sources to be added to the compound inventory; including packaging/unpackaging, labelling, sorting, and proper storage.
  • Manage, maintain, process, and dispense all compound requests to support drug discovery research programs, including weighing solid samples, creating stock solutions, plating liquid sample requests,
    analyzing by LC/MS, and preparing samples for shipping.
  • Responsible for meeting timelines for compound requests and collaborating with chemists and other scientists to meet any compound request requirements.
  • Maintain and ensure all Compound Management laboratory equipment is in proper working order and properly maintained.
  • Implement automation where appropriate to improve workflow and productivity.
  • Provide support and maintenance for onsite instruments in coordination with the lab manager.
  • Provide support for routine formulation preparation and analysis by LC/MS to support in vivo experiments
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
     
Your Background

  • BS/MS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other scientific discipline required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience and/or combination of experience and education/training.
  • Hands-on knowledge of activities related to compound management processes, with an excellent
    understanding of inventory management, weighing solid samples, solution production, quality control
    methods, logistics management, and service-oriented practices.
  • Experience with compound registration and other compound management informatics platforms
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials and use of analytical instruments preferred.
  • Good multi-tasking, organizational, record keeping, and communication skills, and the ability to work
    effectively in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented, collaborative, high performance environment.
