Scismic is supporting the growth of a Tech-Bioproducts company in Virginia.

As an HR Associate, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day HR operations in a holistic manner. In this dynamic environment, you’ll handle everything from onboarding to employee relations, payroll management, benefits, and HR vendor coordination. Your work will directly contribute to fostering a positive, efficient, and compliant workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding: 
  • Lead the onboarding process to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for new hires.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, offering guidance on HR policies, workplace concerns, and performance issues.
  • Support managers in resolving workplace conflicts and maintaining a positive team culture.

HR Administration: 
  • Assist with day-to-day HR tasks, including maintaining employee records, updating HR policies, and ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws.
  • Performance Support: Help employees and managers with performance evaluations, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement. Support the development of training and development initiatives.
  • Benefits & Compensation: Assist with the administration of benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, paid time off) and help answer employee questions. 
  • Work with external vendors to ensure benefits are properly managed.

Payroll Management: 
  • Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee salaries and deductions. Work closely with the payroll vendor to resolve any payroll-related issues.

HR Vendor Management: 
  • Manage relationships with HR partners, including benefits providers together with administrative and payroll service providers.  
  • Ensure services are delivered as agreed and assist with evaluating vendor performance.

Employee Engagement: 
  • Promote employee engagement by organizing company events, managing employee feedback surveys, and supporting wellness initiatives.
  • Help to foster a positive company culture.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Help maintain accurate HR data and prepare basic HR reports as needed.

Key Profile Attributes:
  • General HR knowledge, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, and compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Basic proficiency in HR software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an HR role, ideally with experience of partnering senior leaders to implement HR policies and administer the function.
  • Experience in a biomanufacturing or regulated industry is a plus but not required.
