About the Role:
About the Role:
They are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and experienced full-time research associate to contribute to the development of preclinical pipeline in the new target/drug discovery and completion of cancer research studies. Successful candidates will be part of an innovative and creative team with the opportunity to apply their creativity to Mirimus’ core vision. A positive attitude, proficient communication skills, along with the ability to learn quickly are required attributes. The candidate will work on ongoing projects to help create custom gene edited cancer cell models using our RNAi and CRISPR/Cas9 platforms. They will report to the Senior Scientist of Cancer Biology.
Suitable candidates must have experience with small animal research and basic cellular, molecular biology techniques. They must have professional and scientific skills and knowledge in the specified area(s) and be willing to engage and stay abreast with current developments and trends arising in the field. Good knowledge of scientific principles, methods and processes (technical and/or theoretical) used to conduct systematic and objective inquiry, methods of data collection and analyses, and interpreting and reporting results are required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with Cancer research studies both in vivo and in vitro
- Assist with Molecular and Cellular Assays and Data Analyses
- Coordinate and be responsible for the planning and execution of animal research studies
- Animal Cancer Model Maintenance
Required Education and Experience:
- MA in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology or related fields
- BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology or related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in industry or in academia.
- 1-3 year of animal research experience is required.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience with the following is required:
- Handling small animals.
- Mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Quantitative reverse transcription PCR and Flow cytometry.
- Basic scientific calculation (such as weight volume concentration, molar concentration, etc.).
- Familiar with DNA/RNA extraction and related molecular biology techniques.
- Working knowledge of RNA interference, shRNA and/or siRNA, and gene editing techniques including homologous recombination and CRISPR, and their applications to study gene function.
- Experience with the following is highly preferred:
- Data collection and quantitation from experiments.
- Drawing and processing animal blood samples, performing anesthesia and surgeries.
- Injection methods in mice and rats preferred (hands-on training will be provided).
- Mouse and/or animal colony management.
- Immunofluorescence and immunoassays (western blotting).
- Interact with all individuals in productive ways to enhance Mirimus’ goals and core vision. Show respect and maintain a professional attitude to all lab members and outside collaborators.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary Range:
- $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
